2013’s banquet was a plated dinner with your choice of entrees: Grilled Gulf Fish (with a Tomato Coulis Sauce over Mushroom Rice) or Seared Chicken Breast over Boudin. Vegetarian plates (Vegetable Napoleon – Roasted Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Spinach and Portobello Mushroom & layered with Mozzarella Cheese) were also available. This year, children 12 and under will have the following menu choices: Chicken Strips with Fries or Hot Dog with a Bag of Chips.

There was an open session with no defined topic for those wishing to make a presentation at SFIWC.
Graduate Student Session
The Graduate Student Session was held during the afternoon of Wednesday, July 24th. Presentation length was dependent on the number of students participating.
The Poster Session and reception was held on Thursday, July 25.
Posters were no larger than 4′ x 4′. Posters can be set up starting Wednesday, July 24 and were displayed throughout the entire meeting.
The Photo Salon was held on Wednesday, July 24.

Southern Pine Beetle Working Group
The Southern Pine Beetle Working Group met at 1pm on Tuesday, July 23.
2013 SFIWC Food Drive
This year’s food drive will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans. Please check out their website at http://no-hunger.org/ and see how your donation will benefit the local community.
The 21st Frontalis Cup golf outing will be take place on Thursday afternoon, July 25th. We have chosen as a venue the TPC-Louisiana (http://www.tpc.com/tpc-louisiana). Mostly, the Frontalis Cup is an outing, and anyone who wants to play is welcome.
The 2013 Frustrana Cup was held Thursday, July 25 from 2:00 to 4:30 pm at the Mid City Lanes in New Orleans (http://www.rocknbowl.com/). Graduate students were encouraged to attend to interact with potential employers and future employees.
The bowling alley is located at 3000 South Carrollton Avenue, just a short bus ride from the hotel. And remember the famous words of Walter Sobchak: “You mark that frame an 8 and you are entering a world of pain”.
