Restriction of Firewood Movement - January 2009

The Southern Forest Insect Work Conference and the Forest Health Task Force (Southern Group of State Foresters) recommend that firewood movement should be restricted to slow the spread of invasive species harmful to North American forests.

Forest Health in the Forestry Curriculum - October 2003

The Southern Forest Insect Work Conference strongly recommends that the curriculum include rigorous courses in both entomology and pathology for students in forest biology, ecology, management and urban forestry.

Southern Pine Beetle Control - September 2002

The following letter was sent to the Chief of the US Forest Service because of the delays in prompt salvage cuts of southern pine beetle killed timber. These delays usually resulted in more timber being killed.
