2012 SFIWC Food Drive
This year we will once again be hosting a food drive during the Southern Forest Insect Work Conference. All contributions will benefit the local Emergency Food Bank. You can find information about the services they provide at http://efb.avenue.org/. This site lists the types of food items they need. Cash or checks also will be gladly accepted.
Please bring all donations to the SFIWC/SWFDW registration table. Donations can also be given to Steve Clarke once registration has closed. All donations will be taken to the Emergency Food Bank following the closing business meeting. The food bank is located close to the Hotel, and everyone is invited to come along when we present the donations.
Most SFIWC attendees have their meals paid for during the Conference, so please consider helping local families in need by donating the equivalent of the per diem for one or two meals. Let’s help support the local community during the conference. Thanks.
Frustrana Cup
The 2012 Frustrana Cup will be a table shuffleboard tournament at Boylan Heights restaurant. The tournament will be on Thursday, July 26, and will start at 2 pm so we can be finished in time for the evening banquet. The restaurant is located near the University of Virginia, and is accessible via a free trolley with stops near the hotel and the tournament site. Though anyone can sign up for the Frustrana Cup up to the start of the tournament, it would be nice to have an estimate of the number of participants. If you plan to participate, please email Steve Clarke in advance if possible. You can check out the venue at http://boylan-heights.com/. All participants are strongly encouraged to sample the variety of liquid refreshments available at the site during the competition. As per tradition, all two-person teams will be assembled randomly, just in case there are some shuffleboard sharks in our midst. Andy Londo has once again graciously volunteered to supply the trophies to the winners.
Hope to see you in Charlottesville on July 24!
