The Radisson has set a special conference rate of $83/night, single or double occupancy, and they will honor this rate for 2 days before and after the conference. MAKE YOUR RESERVATION BY JUNE 23 to guarantee this low rate. Covered, self-parking is available for $11/day; valet parking is $16. The hotel's web site has maps, driving instructions, and lots of information about local activities.
Mixer and Banquet: The mixer will be held at the hotel on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm, featuring egg rolls, spareribs, finger sandwiches, plus fruit and veggies. Beer and wine will be provided. The banquet will be on Tuesday night at the nearby Old Pecan Street Café, 310 E. 6th Street. The meal will be a barbeque buffet. Vegetarian options will be available. Extra banquet tickets are $25.00, and tickets for small children are half price.
Wednesday PM: Wednesday afternoon is set aside for field trips. Golfers need to contact Bob Coulson at r-coulson@tamu.edu. A trip to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center http://www.wildflower.org and beyond is being arranged by Ron Billings. Contact Ron at rbillings@tfs.tamu.edu for details and reservations. On Wednesday evening you are invited to watch the Round Rock Express play the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at the Dell Diamond. Game time is 7:00. We will purchase a block of group tickets, which will run between $6 and $9, depending on where we sit. Please contact Steve Clarke at sclarke@fs.fed.us if you plan to attend. Photo Salon: This year's Photo Salon will be like those of the recent past. There are 5 categories: Forest Insect; Forest Insect Damage; Series (3-7 slides) - where a single slide just won't tell the whole story; "Other" - for subjects that don't conveniently fall into any other category; and Humorous - the lighter moments of Forest Entomology.
Media may be 2X2" photographic slides or digital in a format compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint. You may submit your images to Tim Haley in the US mail, by e-mail, or personally at the very beginning of the meeting. If you submit digital photos please submit them in as large a format/file size and as uncompressed as you have available. Unless photographers specify otherwise, the winning images will be added to Forestry Images, http://www.forestryimages.org. If you need more information or require enthusiastic support for submitting your images, please don't hesitate to contact Tim thaley@fs.fed.us. Keep those images coming!
